INFORMATIONS ABOUT THE ASSOCIATION

  The association " Les Amis de Lunas " has been founded in 1972 according to the law of 1901.

  The motto is as follows : " With any means at disposal to develop the touristic and cultural interest of Lunas and its region and make known the natural local and regional values, as well as the vestiges of its past." (Article 2 of the statutes)

   At present, the association has 412 members (subscription 9 euros) of different horizons and regions, coming to LUNAS mainly out of the school period and trusting the association.

Different activities take place inside the association :

    - Parties with dinners, snacks and dances, as well as lotto-evenings.

    - Archaeology with actions developing the local vestiges, as well as lectures about this topic.

    - Journeys (with cultural aim) :

            * One-day-trips in the surroundings

            * Twice a year abroad or in distant regions, for respectively 8 and 4 days,

            * Parlour games,

- Twice a week gymnastic lessons,

- A mini-lab for video- and photomontage. At present, an extension for a cinema-club is going on.

- A commission for public relations and communication : Contacts with the media and the publication of a quarterly information sheet.

- One section of the association has the task to develop the knowledge of local and surrounding patrimony as well as the organisation of journeys.

Concerning the first point, monthly trips are proposed. Our place offers various possibilities for visits in the nearer region, which can be made without effort during one day.

Example :

The region Aveyron, with the Graufesenque-Museum in Millau, Sylvanès and its monastery, the castle of Montaigut ...

The region Aude, where we could discover the secrets of Narbonne, Tautavel, Sallèles d’Aude with its potters, ...

Our other neighbour : the Tarn region, with the cities Albi, Castres, ...

The region Gard, Nîmes, Arles, Frigolet and its surroundings, Saintes, ...

   And, of course, the region Hérault, with its innumerable treasures : Montpellier, Lattes, Béziers, Maguelone, ...

   These trips are ending in the moth of June with a great cruise, either on the "Canal de Midi" or the Roubine, or a Rhône-cruise, ...

   And twice a year, journeys are organized, as for example to the Futuroscope-Park in Poitiers, the "Puy du Fou", Paris, Andalusia or Morocco.
